WHAT IS CROSSFIT?

‘Functional movements that are constantly varied at high intensity’

WHAT IS CROSSFIT REALLY?

CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program utilising movements we use everyday: pushing, pulling, squatting, jumping, throwing, carrying, and sprinting.

In our group classes in The Bunker we work together and support each other, forging a fun and engaging fitness community. CrossFit programming is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience and fitness levels.

The 10 recognised measurable fitness domains that CrossFit use are:

Cardio
stamina
strength
AGILITY
SPEED
POWER
FLEXIBILITY
COORDINATION
balance
accuracy
AM I SUITABLE FOR CROSSFIT?

YES

Everyone from parents to students; tennis players to cyclists, regardless of their athletic ability or fitness levels can participate through careful scaling of movements and development of core strength and conditioning. Serious athletes can train beside novice participants in a positive friendly environment. Egos are very much left at the door. Typical classes last 60 mins and include:

Dynamic warm up: Functional movements, stretches, and mobility work

Skill/Strength work: pure strength movement and/or gymnastic skills

WOD: (the Workout Of the Day). This is where you’ll be told to do a certain number of reps of particular exercises as quickly as possible, or you’ll have a set time limit to do as many of a certain exercise as possible.

Cool down and stretching: Either as a group, or on your own.

WHY DO I NEED CROSSFIT?

Commercial gyms have a fitness philosophy based on machine weights & extended aerobic sessions. Their specialised classes are often difficult to get into and large numbers make it difficult for clients to receive individual coaching which is essential to personal development.

Crossfit classes are limited in numbers, allowing coach engagement with every member, in every session. The low client to coach ratio provides a high level of supervision so participants receive bespoke feedback, one-to-one knowledge transfer and a sound understanding of the required movement standards.
