Typhoon - home of CrossFit Typhoon - is one of Hong Kong’s original CrossFit gyms. Established in 2013, our "Bunker' in Sai Ying Pun has matured into more than just a gym - we are an urban fitness community - dedicated to the development of increased health and fitness of all of our members through training and community events.
Through our daily T8 CrossFit WODs, T3 CrossFit Lite sessions and specialty classes, we are here to help you achieve the strength and conditioning goals that you’ve always wanted. Our emphasis is on functional fitness - and FUN! <--
Under the guidance of our expert coaches, our programming can be scaled to the needs of any client irrespective of age, fitness level, or ability.

Mayara Ramaldes
Head Coach & Owner
Nationality: Brazil
Certifications: CF Level 2
Bio: Mayara is an accomplished athlete and coach. She started her sports journey very young, from the age of 5-16 she did Ballet and dance academy and from 12-17 was part of the Volleyball team representing her city in Brazil back home. Mayara is a health and performance specialist/ strength and conditioning coach and is well-versed in working with athletes of all levels. When she found CrossFit it became an important part of her life, she naturally made the transition to coaching. Mayara specialises in movement and mobility, and is passionate about teaching people how to optimise their movement patterns to make their workouts more effective and prevent injury.
Stef Cheung
Coach (Part-time)
Nationality: Hong Kong
Certifications:
Bio: Stef stumbled upon CrossFit by accident in 2015, when she was invited by some friends to join a free intro class. Enticed by the playground-esque vibe of the box, she went from being a calorie-counter to a rep-counter in quick order and has never looked back.
Stef loves introducing CrossFit to new people who might feel intimidated, by making the sport approachable and by always offering positive reinforcement. She believes everyone's fitness journey looks different but we all start somewhere!
A dentist by day, Stef is also kind of a nerd - she enjoys the technicality and precision of Olympic lifting and learning about how CrossFit methodology can improve your overall health.
Emily Spensley
Finance Director, Coach & Owner
Nationality: UK
Certification: CF Level 1
Bio: Emily first found her way to the Bunker in 2014 whilst looking to get her fitness back after having twins.
Emily loves the training process but also the competition environment and has participated in competitions both in Hong Kong and around the region including the Asia CrossFit Championships Sanctional in Shanghai in 2019.
Lucas Morimitiso
Coach (Full-time)
Nationality: Brazil
Certification: Olympic Gymnastics, Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Diploma in Physical Education
Bio: A 15+ year veteran - Lucas started on the National Brazilian Gymnastics Team. After the 2012 London Olympic Games he retired, allowing him to travel to 27 countries where he coached CrossFit, got a Degree in Physical Education, taught University classes, and even shadowed doctors and learned how to treat sports related injuries.
Sophia Minutolo

Bio: Since moving to Hong Kong and finding CrossFit, Sophia's dream has been to coach in a CrossFit box, finally getting her opportunity with Typhoon.
Sophia loves lifting weights and her elementary PE students are no strangers to this! Sophia's other goals are to help children and adults alike learn the importance of muscular strength and having a healthy body forever. She loves to workout with barbells and training for the Spartan races with her husband.
Victoria Campos
Athlete-in-Residence
Nationality: Brazil
Cerfitifcation: CF Level 3
Bio: Victoria started CrossFit in 2013, and has since has competed in the Pacific Regionals and Asia Invitationals and this year was named second fittest in South America!
She's worked across the globe from New Zealand, to China, to Hawaii and been Head Coach of 3 affiliates. Vic is currently competing overseas and returns to HK in Fall 2022.
Ali Dowding
Coach (Part-time)
Nationality: UK
Certifications:
Bio: Ali competed nationally in cross country running. She's passionate about nutrition and long-term health and currently studying for a degree in Nutritional Therapy.
Ali has worked in Dubai and England as a personal and group trainer and has experienced different realms of fitness as she was Studio Manager of F45 Hong Kong for 2 years. She enjoys the community in CrossFit and the continual diversity of skills to develop any level of fitness.
Josh Meninga
Coach (Part-time)
Nationality: Australia
Certifications:
Bio: Having worked in the fitness industry for many years and as a former head coach of Typhoon, Josh is a highly experienced coach. After many years in competitive sports Josh found CrossFit as a way of further developing his fitness goals and skills. With a keen eye and focus on doing things 'the right way', Josh has helped many reach and surpass their fitness goals.
Frances Ren
Member Services Associate
Nationality: Taiwan
Experience: Yoga, Wellness, F45
Bio: Frances moved to HK in 2022 and found the Typhoon family. She brings a wealth of experience in the fitness/wellness industry and runs our Member Services platforms on Whatsapp and MindBody.
Previously, Frances was a Yoga instructor in Singapore. She is a partner in the first F45 franchise in Taiwan.

CHOOSE YOUR WORKOUT
Typhoon offers a variety of classes, personal training, and open gym sessions to help you reach your fitness goals. We are accessible to CrossFit veterans as well as those new to the sport, and pride ourselves on integrating new members into the CrossFit community through our bootcamp and on-ramping programs. The options below reflect that integration with new members advancing from T3 bootcamps - to T8 CrossFit WODs, and T10 - our bespoke elite athlete program for those who have competitions in their sights. Throughout this progression, our coaches are available for one-on-one personal training which can help you perfect your movements and help reach your goals more efficiently.
